As it has for 18 consecutive Independence Days, the Stewart Manor Fire Department hosted the holiday in a very singular way.

The village celebration paid tribute to the 240th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence with quite a unique parade.
In addition to the traditional color guard, elected officials, bands, motorcycle enthusiasts, antique cars and trucks, fire departments from near and far also participated in the annual parade. However, these fire houses don’t just creatively decorate their trucks and floats: they engage in an all-out water war with onlookers. Armed with water guns, water balloons and hoses, residents and guests fiercely defend themselves against the oncoming water arsenal.
This year was no exception as adults, children, men, women, young and old were not spared from a hydro onslaught.
