Four people were arrested after allegedly calling a New Cassel home on April 3, pretending a family member had been kidnapped, and demanding $2,000 for the victim’s safe return.
Police say 20-year-old Wendy Suprien of New Cassel, 28-year-old Scharday Hilton of Huntington Station, 20-year-old Wisard Dextra of Westbury and 19-year-old Sheyla Diaz of the Bronx devised the fake kidnapping plan and were arrested on April 5 at 12:20 a.m. when an investigation led police to their location at the EconoLodge Motel in Hicksville.
All occupants were found to be in good health and in no duress, according to police, who observed on a desk a clear plastic bag believed to contain Methyldioxymethamphetamine.
All four are charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy and falsely reporting an incident.
Dextra is additionally charged with criminal possession of stolen property and Diaz is charged with prostitution.
Defendant Christopher Dodge, 53, of Levittown, was in the same room but not involved in the above listed incident. He is charged with patronizing a prostitute and released on an appearance ticket returnable to First District Court on April 22, 2014.
